Effective October 20, 2026. The Rightist is published by The Rightist, LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use therightist.com and what we do with it. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider (GoDaddy, with content delivery by Cloudflare) records your IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the time of each request. These logs are used for security and performance and are kept for a limited period.
Analytics. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and see which stories are read. Where we use Google Analytics, IP addresses are anonymized and we do not use advertising features.
Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and content you submit, plus your IP address and browser string to help detect spam. Comments are checked by the Akismet anti-spam service, which processes that data under Automattic’s privacy policy.
Email you send us. If you write to hello@, tips@, or letters@therightist.com, we keep your message so we can reply. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace. Letters to the editor may be published; we will ask before printing your name.
Newsletter. If we offer a newsletter and you sign up, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any issue.
Cookies
We set only the cookies needed to run the site: a session cookie if you log in or comment, and Cloudflare’s security cookie. Embedded third-party content, such as the TradingView market ticker, YouTube videos, or social media posts, may set its own cookies under that provider’s policy.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except the service providers named above, or when required by law. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your choices
You can read the site without creating an account or accepting optional cookies. You may ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@therightist.com. Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, and other states with privacy laws may exercise their rights by the same route.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top. Questions: hello@therightist.com.
